How to speed up your chrome broswer

🔧 1. Disable Unused Extensions

  • Go to chrome://extensions/
  • Remove or disable extensions you don’t use. Extensions consume memory and slow down performance.

🚀 2. Enable Hardware Acceleration

  • Go to chrome://settings/system
  • Toggle “Use hardware acceleration when available” to ON
  • Restart Chrome

🧹 3. Clear Cache & Browsing Data

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete (Windows/Linux) or Cmd + Shift + Delete (Mac)
  • Select “All time”
  • Clear Cached images and files, Cookies, and Browsing history

📁 4. Limit Tabs and Use Tab Management

  • Too many open tabs slow Chrome down.
  • Use extensions like The Great Suspender or Tab Suspender to freeze inactive tabs.

🧼 5. Disable Background Apps

  • Go to chrome://settings/system
  • Turn off “Continue running background apps when Google Chrome is closed”

🔎 6. Remove Unnecessary Search Engines

  • Go to chrome://settings/searchEngines
  • Delete unknown or unused search engines (some might be added by malware)

🛠️ 7. Reset Chrome Settings (if infected or sluggish)

  • Go to chrome://settings/reset
  • Click Restore settings to their original defaults

⚡ 8. Update Chrome

  • Go to chrome://settings/help
  • Make sure you’re using the latest version of Chrome

💻 9. Free Up System Resources

  • Close unnecessary programs running in the background (check with Task Manager)
  • Consider upgrading RAM if Chrome uses too much memory

🔐 10. Scan for Malware

  • Use Chrome’s built-in tool:
    chrome://settings/cleanup
  • Or use a trusted antivirus to scan your system
